π Quick Travel Tips for Singapore and Bali: What You Need to Know Before You Go!
Planning a trip to Singapore and/or Bali? We've got you covered with quick, essential tips to help you make the most of your adventure. Here are some essentials you need to know before you pack your bags!
When to Visit Singapore
Best Time to Go: The weather stays consistently warm year round making Singapore a great year-round destination. The dry season is considered to be March to August, while the rainy season is considered to be November to January.
Weather Tip: The temperatures average around the high 80βs Fahrenheit in Singapore year round. Be sure to wear comfortable and breathable clothing. We also recommend bringing a light rain jacket just in case rain moves in. The humid tropical climate means that rain can frequently move in during the day.
When to Visit Bali
Best Time to Go: April - October, which is generally considered the dry season.
Weather Tip: The average temperature in Bali is 80 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the island of Bali. The island is humid and tropical, so wear looser fitting clothes or breathable clothes made out of material like Rayon. If you venture up into the mountainous interior, make sure to bring a light weight jacket as the weather can be a bit more unpredictable with slightly lower temperatures (in the 60βs Fahrenheit) misty rain.
Getting Around Singapore
π Public Transport: The MRT is the public transportation network that connects you to all of Singapore. We found the MRT safe and easy to use. You can use Apple Pay, Google Pay, download the MRT app, or pay for a ticket at the kiosks upon arrival, making the MRT a really easy and effective way to travel around.
π Taxis & Ride Shares: Check out Grab. Grab is an app much like Uber that allows for easy pick up and drop off around the city. We found it very easy to use and the prices to be very reasonable. Grab is easy to set up and use and drops you off right at your requested destination. Just be sure to set up the app in advance before travel and upload your credit card for easier use and without having to worry if your Sim Card or WIFI is not working.
πΆ Walkability: Singapore is very walkable with plenty of running trails, paths, and parks. Walking within districts is a great way to see the many sights and restaurants. Just know that the city of Singapore is a vast metropolis, so getting across town will definitely require public transportation or a car.
Getting Around Bali
π Public Transport: The island of Bali is very spreadout and the road systems are a bit narrow, so just know that traveling around Bali will be a lot slower than you think. Bali does have shuttle buses that will take you to most major cities.
π Taxis & Ride Shares: We found the private taxi and car ride services to be the best way to get around, especially if you are a bit shorter on time. While you will pay a litte bit more for the convenience, we found them to be punctual, safe, and comfortable. We found it easier to request a private shuttle at the respective hotels, but there are also plenty of scooters and taxi drivers around the main towns. You can also use the Grab app to get around, but we did not find this as easy while we were there as there did not seem to be many drivers available.
πΆ Walkability: While we were visiting Ubud and Sanur, we found both towns to be very walkable and a great way to explore. If you want to tour around the island, you will definitely need to take public transportation, rent a scooter, or book a guided tour to get around.
